Junior Volleyball

Junior Volleyball in Cairns is growing faster than ever and there are many options for those wanting to develop their skills. Below you will find the contact details and information about our sub-affiliates plus school volleyball.

FNQ Schools Cup
Email: Email your school's HPE Head of Department, Sports Coordinator and school volleyball coaches.

School Sport

School CISSA (secondary) and JSS (junior) Sport
Primary and secondary school students can compete within the CISSA sporting competition (in senior school) and JSS (in junior school), at their local school on Wednesday afternoons.

FNQ Schools Cup
Schools between the Torres Strait and Tully frequently play in the FNQ Schools Cups with a Junior, Intermediate and Senior Cup taking place every year at Smithfield SHS. Cup dates can be found in the CVA calendar however speak with your school volleyball coach for more information.

Peninsula Sport

District trials for the Under 16 and Opens Peninsula Volleyball Teams usually take place in February. Speak with your school volleyball coach for more information. Further details can be found here: Peninsula School Sport

Play On Vouchers

Parents, carers or guardians can apply for a voucher valued up to $200 for their child. These vouchers can be used towards the cost of your VQ and CVA membership and/or participation fees at CVA. There is a limit of 1 voucher per child per calendar year.

You can apply if your child:
  • is a Queensland resident aged from 5 to 17 years (inclusive) at the time of application.
  • did not receive a FairPlay voucher this year.
The 50,000 vouchers under the current system is open to anyone who holds, or whose parent, carer or guardian holds, a valid Department of Human Services Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card with the child’s name on it.

CVA Learn to Play Thursday Nights

Learn to play takes place during school terms on Thursday night at the Youth Centre Hall at 5pm and also 6:15pm. Open to people of all ages who want to learn how to play volleyball. This is the same evening as our challenger season games so you may even find a team to play in there! Places are capped at 30 people and fill fast!
