Conditions of Membership Updated 8/01/2026
Cairns Volleyball Association Inc. (CVA) strives to be the premier volleyball club in Far North Queensland, by providing opportunities to participate in both recreational and high-performance volleyball to players of all ages and skill levels. In applying for membership, and to assist Cairns Volleyball to provide an attractive environment for volleyballers, I acknowledge and agree to comply with the club's constitution, by-laws, policies, and rules of CVA. In particular, this includes:
1 Conduct a) All CVA members must adhere to the Volleyball Australia's National Member Protection Policy, and in particular the relevant Codes of Behaviour (part B of policy). b) It is the responsibility of each individual member to read, understand, and adhere to the relevant VA Codes of behaviour (above). c) CVA does its best to ensure the safety of everyone at CVA activities. However, we do believe that safety is everyone's responsibility. We expect that everyone will behave in a manner that does not endanger themselves or others. d) Behave in-line with the Code of Behaviour outlined by Volleyball Queensland. e) Support CVA representative pathways.
2 Registration and Fees a) Members should renew their membership of the club each year using the online membership portal provided. b) Members should register their intention to participate in any events (competitions, tournaments, etc) by filling out the appropriate form on the membership portal. c) All details provided should be correct and in no way misleading. d) By nominating to renew membership or to participate in any CVA activity (verbally or otherwise), the member accepts the associated fees, and agrees to pay those fees by the due date. More details can be found in the club's Billing and Debt Policy. e) If a member experiences difficulties with paying their fees on time, they should inform the CVA Treasurer in writing as early as possible, and definitely prior to the due date for their next fee payment. Where feasible, and having regard to the specific circumstances in each case, members may negotiate an alternate payment plan with the Treasurer. f) Child registrations; i. Registration of children (ie aged under 18) should be completed by their parent/guardian, as the parent/guardian is ultimately responsible for the payment of fees. ii. If a parent chooses to allow their child to fill in registrations on their behalf, the 'Primary Contact' listed must be the contact details of the parent/guardian.
3 VQ Membership All CVA members must be Volleyball Queensland members, and as such must adhere to VQ's terms and conditions for membership.
4 Junior Members i) All members, and especially those who have roles in which they interact with children, are required to act in-line with VQ's Child Safety Policy. ii) While CVA does its best to ensure the safety of all members at CVA activities, parent and guardians retain responsibility for the safety of their children at all times.
5 Copyright and right to use images I acknowledge and consent to images being taken of me and/or my children during my participation in CVA activities. I acknowledge that the images are owned by CVA and that CVA may use other images taken at CVA events for promotional or other purposes without my further consent being obtained. Further, I consent to CVA using my name, image, likeness and also my performance in CVA activities, at any time, to promote the activities by any form of media. I may advise CVA if I do not wish CVA to use my name, image, likeness and also my performance in this way.
6 Breach of conditions a) Failure to comply with these conditions may result in CVA taking disciplinary action against the member. b) The disciplinary action taken will be determined by the CVA committee. It will depend on the circumstances surrounding the breach, the severity of the breach, and the member's history. c) Disciplinary action may include, but is not limited to: i. Playing restrictions, e.g. not being permitted to play for, or train with, CVA; ii. Entry restrictions, e.g. being refused entry to an event run, or participated in, by CVA; and iii. Suspension or revocation of membership. iv. The disciplinary action in this clause is in addition to any action that might be taken by Volleyball Queensland or the Australian Volleyball Federation, which may include blacklisting from Queensland and Australian volleyball events.
