Terms and conditions

  • BY LAWS - 2026 Term 4 Social Mixed Season: 6 A-Side

    Draw and duty schedule: here

    1. Team registration:
    a. Teams need to register via the CVA Majesti website only.
    b. $60 team nomination deposit is required to be paid when registering your team via the CVA Majesti website. If a refund is requested, it will only be refunded to the captain’s/manager’s account at the end of the season at the sole discretion of the CVA committee. $60 deposit is used in the final week unless teams have outstanding fees from a prior week.
    c. All players need current 2026 CVA ($20) and VQ (Recreational $35) memberships (exp 31/3/27). VQ ID will be required when registering.

    2. Eligibility of players and gameplay:
    a. $60 per game fee prior to playing needs to be paid. This is paid in person at the hall kiosk electronically on the night prior to the game.
    b. Players can only register in one team, with a maximum of 10 players per team.
    c. Every player must sign themselves in on the team list sheet at the kiosk prior to each game. This is prior to the first serve. Team list sign in sheets are kept at the kiosk. Penalties will apply to teams repeatedly failing to do this.
    d. Minimum 5 players on the court from the team list. If teams do not have 5 signed in players from their team list by the start of the first serve they will incur a 2 points per minute late start penalty.
    e. Teams must have at least 3 women on the court at all times. Teams can play with more women if they desire, teams just can’t have more than 3 men on the court at one time. It is recommended that teams put more females in their team list to cover games where you may have some absent players.
    f. Men cannot spike without a female touching the ball e.g. a male cannot spike a free ball coming over the net back at the opponent.
    g. Men can block and end the point.
    h. Men can free ball the ball to the opponent without a female touching it on the first touch.
    i. It is okay to substitute a player from the bench into play without notifying the referee. It is preferred that teams do a rotation style substitution where a player goes into the back court to serve.
    j. Teams must rotate and follow FIVB 2025 rules (double without crossing the net allowed, no screening).
    k. For a player to be eligible for any finals, team players must have played in at least three regular round matches that season. Regular pool rounds do not include the crossover round or the Grand Final round.
    l. 1 hour game slot with a 5 minute warm up. First game serve is 5 minutes into game time, e.g. first serve for a 6:15pm game is 6:20pm.
    m. Last serve at the 59th minute to end the game, e.g. 7:14pm at the end of a 6:15pm game.
    n. No draws in this season, if scores are tied at the end of the game, a deciding point will be played.
    o. Winning captain must sign the scoresheet at the end of each game.

    3. Duties and no show:
    a. Team non-payment/attendance will result in in a forfeit noted, and no score being accounted for the match.
    b. Two no show forfeits in a row will result in a removal from the competition.
    c. If a duty team is late and cannot fill at least first and second referee by the first serve, it will result in a 2 point per minute late penalty on the next game they play. If a duty team is late again it will result in a tournament point deduction.
    d. All teams that forfeit will still pay match fees. Any outstanding fees must be paid in full before the team will be permitted to play any further games in subsequent weeks.
    e. CVA committee can be provided notice via email at play@cairnsvolleyball.com.au with reasonable notice of any extreme circumstances relating to a team forfeit.

    4. Other:
    a. Points:
    i. Win = 3 tournament points
ii. Loss = 1 tournament point
iii. Forfeit = 0 tournament points
    b. In the event of a tournament point tie, placings will be based on points difference.
    c. Competition Co-ordinator decisions are final.
    d. Late season team entries may be accepted at the sole discretion of the CVA committee.
    e. Written communication between teams and CVA is via captains and play@cairnsvolleyball.com.au only.
    f. Cairns Volleyball Association expects all players and officials to be treated with respect. Sanctions will apply to individuals and teams for poor behaviour.
    g. A 5 minute break will be incorporated into the draw if there are no 8:15pm games.
    h. The mixed social season is designed to bring players together and bring new players into the sport. It is also designed to provide an enjoyable level of volleyball for those that simply love the game. Please be mindful of this, and it is preferred that teams do not ‘stack’ their team with competitive season players and instead spread these players across teams.
